| Irena
Czubek-Davidson
In 1995 Irena Czubek-Davidson graduated
from the Cracow Academy of Music with special distinction, where she studied
under prof. Bogumiły Lutak-Modrinic and from 1998 to 2000 she successfully
undertook postgraduate study specializing in chamber music.
Irena has taken part in masterclasses
with Susan Mildonian (1990 Kraków), III Harp Syphosium (1995 Amsterdam) and in
1998 the first conference “Harp Days” in Warsaw.
From 1993 Irena occupied the position of
Principal Harpist with the Świętokrzyska Philharmonic in Kielce and
from 2000 she held the same post in the renowned Silesian Philharmonic in
Katowice. After giving birth to a daughter, Irena started to work in Cracow,
where she is now Principal Harpist with the Cracow Philharmonic, and Assistant
Professor of Harp at the Music Academy.
More widely, Irena has worked with the
most known and reputed orchestras in Poland including the Cracow Radio Symphony
Orchestra, NOSPR in Katowice (National Radio Orchestra), Poznan and Wroclaw
Philharmonics, the Cracow Opera and the Tarnow and Slupsk Chamber Orchestras.
As a soloist and chamber performer, Irena
frequently performs with Cappella Cracoviensis, the Zurich Symphony Orchestra,
Cracow Chamber Choir, Cracow Boys Philharmonic Choir with amongst her most
popularly demanded repertoire „Ceremony of Carols” B. Britten, „Gesange”
op.17 J. Brahms, ”Chichester Psalms” L. Bernstein, „Christmas Oratorio’
C. Saint-Seans, „Mass A-Major” C. Franck, Concerto Bflat Major for harp and
orchestra G.F.Handel and „Two Dances” for harp and string orchestra by C.
Debussy.
In February 2001 she was a co-organiser
and soloist for the Cracow Harp Symposium and performed „Petite Symphonie
Concertante” of F. Martin for harpsichord, piano, harp and two string
orchestras.
Irena has premiered and recorded many
pieces for the Cracow Composers Association and amongst other varied
accomplishments has recorded an educational television programme for children.
In 2001 she recorded a CD with the Cracow
Chamber Choir.
Irena
Czubek-Davidson jest absolwentką Akademii Muzycznej w Krakowie w klasie
harfy prof. Bogumiły Lutak-Modrinic. Swój warsztat muzyczny doskonaliła
biorąc czynny udział w kursach mistrzowskich Susan Mildonian, w III
Harp Symposium w Amsterdamie w 1998 r. oraz w I Dniach Harfy w
Warszawie. Jako kameralistka współpracuje z wieloma zespołami
instrumentalnymi i wokalnymi w Polsce i za granicą. Wraz z Krakowskim
Chórem Kameralnym nagrała płytę CD, zawierającą utwory wokalne z
towarzyszeniem harfy. Obecnie pracuje jako harfistka Filharmonii
Krakowskiej oraz jest asystentką w Akademii Muzycznej w Krakowie.
