Katarzyna Wiwer

Katarzyna Wiwer studied singing at the Krakow Academy of Music, where she graduated in 1994. Since 1994, she has worked with the Krakow-based ensemble, Capella Cracoviensis and since 1996, with the early music ensemble, Harmonia Sacra.
Katarzyna has also taken numerous courses in interpretation, both in Poland and abroad, including masterclasses led by Emma Kirby and Evelyn Tubb. She has a particular fondness for early music, but readily performs later music suited to her voice.

Her wide repertoire includes many choice cantata and oratorio parts from Monteverdi, Buxtehude, Purcell, Bach, Handel, Mozart and Haydn up to contemporary composers, such as de Falla, Britten and Gorecki.

Katarzyna has taken part in many festivals as a soloist. These have included well-established Krakow-based festivals — such as Music in Old Krakow, the Festival of Organ Music, the Early Music Festival and Bach Days in Krakow — and festivals abroad, including the Dresdner Festspiele and the Dartington Festival of Music. She has performed three times at Dartington in costumed and staged performances of early Baroque pieces directed by Anthony Rooley.

Katarzyna’s other activities include solo recitals with lute, harpsichord and piano accompaniment.
